As Director of SUPERSPACE and Principal at Woods Bagot, Christian has been a pioneer in computation for architecture and urban design for nearly 20 years, developing fundamental research for human-centric spatial design through algorithms. Since the 90s, he has helped to create fundamental R&D at the nexus between human-centric design, spatial cognition and machine learning.
Before SUPERSPACE, Christian founded the Computational Design Research group (CDR) of Aedas in 2004. He researched computation and architectural design at University College London, TU Vienna and for 10 years at the University of East London, partnering with Paul Coates in directing the MSc Computing & Design.
He holds a PhD from the Technical University Vienna and recently taught as visiting professor at the Technical University Munich, Germany and the University of Sheffield, UK.
